Day 3: closing in on Alice Springs

G’day mates!

Today was another perfect day…minus the flies and some late afternoon cloud coverage. So, almost perfect. Anyway, we left this morning from 903 km and had a quick 85 km run into Tennant Creek with myself behind the wheel of Ra 9! Let me just say – it was pretty cool to drive a solar powered racecar through the Outback. Jackson switched in at Tennant Creek and drove 223 km into Barrow Creek.

At Barrow Creek we had the roadhouse specialty, which locals call the “Bullshit Burger,” burgers complete with red beets (beet root), a fried egg, aussie bacon, and special sauce. We continued on the road with Jackson behind the wheel, and had another uneventful (which is a good thing!) afternoon, ending the day at 1432 km, just 64 km from Alice Springs.

We have another great campsite and enjoyed breakfast for dinner, Trey’s special eggs benedict. We also all washed our hair with a water jug, so we’re basically clean now. At least our hair is… actually we’ve been washing our legs with baby wipes too.

Tomorrow we will take a short run into Alice Springs and then make our way through Kulgera (the last stop in the Northern Territory) on the way to Coober Pedy. The weather forecast looks nice and sunny for tomorrow so we expect to make up some km, aiming for a 540 km day.

We appreciate your metaphysical support and hope you can tune in to our radio show at 4pm central on Principia Internet Radio.
